The state of Uttar Pradesh is very well known for its writers and poets. The list of writers and poets is very big. It is a very difficult to write about all the poets and writers of the state.
There are number of poets in Lucknow, the state capital of Uttar Pradesh who is well known poets. Not only the poets, but also there are many famous writers in Lucknow who have made the state feel proud. Here is the list of those who are writers and poets both.
1. Kaifi Azmi
Sayyid Akhtar Hussein Rizvi, known as Kaifi Azmi, (14 January 1919 – 10 May 2002) was an Indian Urdu poet and a very famous writer. He is remembered as a man who brought Urdu literature into Indian cinema. He had participated in many of the most memorable mushairas of the twentieth century. He is still remembered by everyone whether it is poet or writer.
2. Dr. Hari Om IAS
Dr. Hair Om IAS is a man of many talents he is a writer and composer, a singer and an officer, he is a famous writer and a poet too. He stands out with his pragmatic and gripping tales of common man struggling with the vicissitudes of life at various levels through his writings. His poems have been a class for the poem lovers of the country. His book of poems “Kapaas ke agle mausam me” is very popular piece of his work.
3. Munavvar Lakhnavi
Munavvar Lakhnavi was an Urdu Poet, and a translator, a writer and a famous poet. He wrote many ghazals and nazms, which rocked at the time. He translated Bhagvad Gita in Urdu verse titled- Naseem e Irfaan. In 1952 he translated of Kalidasa’s Kumarasambhava and in 1956 of Durga Saptshati. Apart from this he had written many poems.
4. Kazim Jarwali
Kazim Jarwali was born in Jarwal, Lucknow city. He is the son of Syed Imtiaz Ali Rizvi who was a freedom fighter. Jarwali began writing poetry at very early age. His poetry has been appreciated by many fans and writers.
He is also known as "Shair-e-Fikr". He has written several collections of poetry and participated in several mushairas within the state and away from the state.
